The Semovente da 75/18 Self Propelled Gun was deployed by Italy during the Second World War out of necessity to provide a stop gap until heavier tanks could become available, though their use ultimately became that of a divisional artillery piece rather than an assault vehicle they were put to effective use by Italian infantry, particularly in campaigns across Africa.
