When the Crimean War began in 1853, the Rifle Brigade deployed two battalions to the campaign, quickly earning a reputation for discipline and aggressive skirmishing. They fought with distinction at the Battle of the Alma, where one of their number famously led the advance across the river under fire, and later played a crucial role during the desperate fighting at Inkerman.

The regiment also served throughout the prolonged Siege of Sevastopol, where members of the Rifle Brigade were awarded Victoria Crosses for acts of exceptional bravery. As the campaign wore on and conditions became increasingly demanding, the Rifle Brigade adopted the softer forage cap in place of the traditional shako, reflecting the practical realities of active service.

This pack represents Rifle Brigade soldiers during the Crimean campaign, equipped in forage caps appropriate to the later stages of the war.

Pack contains:

  • 8 metal British Rifle Brigade infantry figures in forage caps

Sculpted by Mike Percy. Studio miniatures painted by Jamie Getliffe. Models are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
