About the Vostok Launch Vehicle:

The Vostok rocket was derived from the Soviet R-7 ICBM design, which had earlier launched Sputnik 1 – the world’s first artificial satellite – into orbit in 1957. Standing 30 metres tall and weighing 267 tonnes, the R-7-based launchers were powered by a cluster of five engines generating a total thrust of 3886 kN. The Vostok-K variant became the basis of humanity’s first crewed space missions, making it one of the most iconic rockets in the history of astronautics.
