The Free League Vaesen Nordic Horror RPG Starter Set is the perfect introduction to Vaesen Nordic Horror Roleplaying, a Gothic tabletop roleplaying game set in the Mythic North. Inspired by the acclaimed artwork of Johan Egerkrans, this dark fantasy RPG brings nineteenth century northern Europe to life where folklore is real and ancient creatures walk in secret among humanity.

In Vaesen, players take on the roles of members of the secret Society, individuals gifted with the Sight that allows them to see and confront the supernatural beings known as Vaesen. Drawing on Nordic myths and eerie folk traditions, the game blends investigation, mystery and horror into atmospheric storytelling.

This starter set is designed for 4 to 6 players aged 14 and over and provides everything needed to begin playing. It includes condensed core rules covering action skill tests, combat, damage and fear, making it accessible for new players while retaining the depth of the full game.

Included is a complete introductory mystery, The Haunting of Castle Gyllencreutz, allowing your group to dive straight into a fully developed investigation. The Codex Occultum, the Society’s old journal of Vaesen, serves as a player resource filled with lore and clues.

The box also contains five pre generated and illustrated player characters, a large full colour double sided map featuring the Mythic North on one side and the town of Upsala on the other, a detailed map of Castle Gyllencreutz, three handout sheets, five rules reference cards, ten initiative cards and ten engraved custom dice made specifically for the game.

With an average play time of around 180 minutes per session, this starter set offers a complete and immersive introduction to the world of Vaesen Nordic Horror Roleplaying.
