Tamiya 1978 Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo – 1:24 Scale Model Kit
The Tamiya 1978 Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo is a 1:24 scale plastic model kit representing one of the most distinctive touring cars from the German Racing Championship (DRM) era. Built to compete in the over-2000cc class, the Zakspeed Capri Turbo took on rivals such as the BMW 320 Turbo and quickly became a front-running contender during the 1978 and 1979 seasons.
Making its debut at Hockenheim in summer 1978, the car featured an extremely low nose, wide bodywork, and striking black, red, and yellow livery. It achieved its first victory at the Nürburgring in October 1978 and continued to secure podium finishes and wins the following season, cementing its place in 1970s touring car racing history.
This kit accurately captures the aggressive proportions of the original car, including the wide stance and low front end. The detailed cockpit features a roll cage, while the wheels are fitted with aero discs and solid synthetic rubber slick tyres. The model includes new Cartograf decals and an updated instruction manual, making it suitable for modellers looking to build a historically accurate DRM racing car.
