Taika's Reason Vol. 2 - Manga by Paru Itagaki

Taika's Reason Volume 2 is a 208 page paperback graphic novel by Paru Itagaki, exploring a strange world where pet dogs and cats are transformed into humanoid members of society.

When misanthrope Ao discovers her pit bull Taika standing over the mauled body of her father, she is faced with an impossible choice. Unwilling to lose both her beloved father and her devoted pet, Ao embraces Taika after her mother has him humanized and even takes the newly transformed dogperson to school.

At school, Taika meets Tsunayoshi, a German shepherd and elite police officer who begins teaching him how to leave his canine behaviours behind and adopt human customs. But when mysterious traces of blood are discovered in Ao's locker, Taika and Tsunayoshi find themselves competing to uncover where they came from. Taika tries out for the basketball team but doesn’t understand the rules of the human game. A love triangle starts to develop around Ao or is it a quadrangle? And Anna, a mysterious catperson, threatens to blackmail Taika and viciously attacks a classmate.

Written by Paru Itagaki, Taika's Reason combines mystery, literary storytelling and an unusual exploration of the relationship between humans and animals.
