The Soviet Union made extensive use of medium-calibre mortars to support their infantry forces, with the 82mm M-37 and M-41 being the most common examples. These reliable weapons were simple, durable, and easy to produce, making them a mainstay of Soviet fire support throughout the war. 

In Bolt Action, medium mortars are a key component of any Heavy Weapons Platoon. They allow commanders to deliver indirect fire over the heads of friendly troops, ignoring cover when their shots find the mark. Guided by skilled spotters, a well-placed mortar team can dominate large sections of the battlefield, pinning down enemy units and breaking up assaults with devastating accuracy.
