Schwimmwagen T166 Wide Wheel Version - Tamiya (1/35)

The Tamiya Schwimmwagen T166 Wide Tyre Version 1 35 scale plastic model kit faithfully recreates the German Type 166 amphibious vehicle used during the Second World War. Based on the Ferdinand Porsche designed Kübelwagen, the Schwimmwagen was developed to overcome the rivers, wetlands and varied terrain of Europe, combining land mobility with amphibious capability.

Powered by a 4 cylinder petrol engine producing 25hp, the real vehicle could reach speeds of up to 80km/h on land. For water crossings, a manually lowered three bladed propeller enabled travel at speeds of up to 10km/h. While many wartime vehicles were fitted with narrower 133mm tyres due to material shortages, this kit represents the wide 200mm tyre version, offering improved off road performance and a distinctive appearance.

This 1:35 scale model assembly kit measures 113mm in length and 42mm in width when completed. The vehicle’s compact yet detailed form is accurately reproduced based on extensive research of the original. Realistic suspension and the 4 cylinder petrol engine are carefully depicted.

Newly moulded parts recreate key features including 200mm wide tyres with split components to capture authentic tread patterns, updated wheels, an MG34 machine gun, Panzerfaust 30 anti tank weapon, Kar 98k rifle mounted to the crossbar, optional windshield with or without cover and additional equipment. Accessories such as canteens and a helmet can be positioned to suit your chosen scene.

Two new figures are included, comprising one driver and one officer, allowing you to create a dynamic display. Decals are provided for four German Army and two German Air Force number plates, along with cap, sleeve and collar badges.
