Kavango is a deeply thematic strategy board game that invites players to become Conservation Experts working to build a thriving nature reserve in the vast wildernesses of Southern Africa. Designed for 1–5 players aged 10 and up, each game lasts 40–60 minutes and offers a rich, rewarding experience rooted in real-world conservation principles.

Played over three fast-paced rounds of simultaneous turns and card drafting, players transform their own unique landscape into a flourishing ecosystem. As your reserve grows, you’ll complete research tasks to earn funding, which can then be invested in protection efforts and used to provide a safe haven for vulnerable and endangered species. As the game progresses, decisions become more challenging and strategies more complex, with careful planning required to build the highest-scoring reserve.

Created by Matt and Zara while working in conservation in Botswana, Kavango offers a modern, realistic perspective on wildlife conservation in southern Africa. The game features exceptional variety and replayability, with 160 unique species cards, 45 research cards, 10 conservation experts, and 5 landscape boards, reflecting the incredible biodiversity of the Kavango region.
