Developed in response to the Italian Army’s need for greater anti-tank power, the Semovente M42 da 75/34 mounted the potent 75/34 cannon on the M42 hull. Introduced in 1943, this upgraded Semovente delivered significantly improved firepower, capable of taking on heavily armoured British and American tanks. After Italy’s 1943 armistice, the vehicle’s impressive battlefield performance led to its continued use by German anti-tank battalions.
