Panzerkampfwagen V Panther – Ausf. D

The Panzerkampfwagen V “Panther” was one of the most famous and effective German tanks of the Second World War. Developed in response to the Soviet T-34 and KV-1, which had outperformed earlier German designs on the Eastern Front, the Panther represented a major leap forward in armour technology and battlefield performance.

Powered by a 700-horsepower Maybach V-12 engine and armed with the formidable high-velocity 75 mm KwK 42 gun, the Panther excelled in anti-tank combat. Its innovative sloped frontal armour enhanced protection while maintaining strong mobility and speed. Thanks to its balance of firepower, armour, and manoeuvrability, it is widely regarded as one of the most capable tanks of the war.

The Ausf. D was the first production version to enter operational service and saw action across major theatres including the Eastern Front, Italy, and France.
