Bolt Action T27 Xylophone Rocket Launcher On Deuce
Bolt Action T27 “Xylophone” Rocket Launcher on Deuce
Fire a mighty barrage with the T27 now mounted on a “Deuce” truck chassis for mobile fire support!
Towards the end of World War II, the U.S. Army experimented with ground-launched M8 rockets, producing the 8-tube T27 launcher, codenamed “Xylophone.” While not famed for pinpoint accuracy, its rockets delivered a devastating payload against infantry and soft-skinned vehicles. Mounting the launcher on the back of a truck created a mobile system similar in concept to the Soviet Katyusha fast, flexible, and capable of saturating an area with explosive firepower.
On the Bolt Action tabletop, the Deuce-mounted T27 functions as a Multiple Rocket Launcher, using the Rocket Truck profile from Armies of the United States: Third Edition. It’s an excellent low-cost, experimental self-propelled artillery choice for late-war U.S. forces high risk, high reward, and capable of spectacular battlefield impact.
