The Scots Greys, a renowned Dragoon regiment famed for their distinctive grey horses, arrived in the Crimea in 1854 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Griffith. Assigned to Brigadier-General Sir James Scarlett’s Heavy Brigade, they would soon earn lasting fame during one of the most dramatic actions of the war.

At the Battle of Balaklava on 25 October 1854, the Scots Greys took part in Scarlett’s charge against a vastly superior Russian cavalry force of around 3,000 sabres. Fighting alongside other British heavy dragoons, they shattered the enemy formation, inflicting approximately 270 casualties for a loss of just 78 men. The action successfully removed a direct threat to the Highland infantry and the vital British supply base. Despite this triumph, the regiment could only watch as the Light Brigade rode into disaster later that same day.

This command pack represents officers of the Scots Greys during the Crimean War, ideal for leading Heavy Cavalry formations in your Black Powder games.
