The British Heavy Brigade, under General Sir James York Scarlett, executed a daring charge at the Battle of Balaklava, routing a numerically superior Russian cavalry force. Their disciplined assault protected the British supply base and showcased the strength and effectiveness of heavy cavalry in the Crimean War.
