The Sopwith Pup, originally known as the Sopwith Scout, is a celebrated British fighter of the First World War. Smaller than its predecessor, the Sopwith 1½ Strutter, it earned the nickname ‘Pup’ for its compact size. Entering combat in late 1916, the Pup was renowned for its exceptional manoeuvrability and dogfighting prowess, helping the Allies maintain aerial supremacy. Nearly 1,800 were built, armed with a single Vickers .303in machine gun.
