History

Developed in the 1970s as a versatile replacement for several British rotary aircraft, the Westland Lynx represented a major leap forward in helicopter engineering. Built through a collaboration between Westland and French manufacturer Sud Aviation, the Lynx quickly proved itself to be something extraordinary. 

From its maiden flight, the Lynx demonstrated remarkable performance—setting multiple helicopter speed records and becoming renowned for its impressive agility. Variants saw extensive service with both the British Army and the Royal Navy, performing roles ranging from reconnaissance and transport to anti-armour and naval operations. The Lynx family remained an important part of British aviation for over 40 years.
