The Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik was the most produced military aircraft in aviation history, with over 36,000 built by the end of WWII. Its unique airframe featured integrated armour to protect vital areas such as the cockpit, engine and fuel tank. A two-seat version with a rear gunner was developed for improved protection. Tamiya's 1/72 scale aircraft faithfully replicates the late-1943 model, featuring an outer wing section swept back at 15 degrees. The Il-2 was an integral part of Soviet victories, alongside the T-34 tank. Collectors will find this to be a must-have piece.
