The M4A3E8 (formerly the M4A3(76)W HVSS) earned its 'Easy Eight' nickname from US servicemen. Featuring the Horizontal Volute Suspension System (HVSS) and broader tracks, providing improved mobility, a welded hull for improved protection, and the 76mm M1A2 main gun, equipping it to compete with Axis medium tanks, the Easy Eight was first presented in December 1944 for the Battle of the Bulge. Capable of targeting the rear armour of hostile medium tanks, this vehicle was a formidable threat.
