Blood Bowl Sevens 24 Hour Charity Event

At the start of June The East Yorkshire Blood Bowl League (EYBBL) organised a challenge for the local BloodBowl community all to raise money in aid of Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), a suicide prevention charity. The idea was for participants to utilize all their hobby skills, guile, and willpower to assemble and paint a team for Blood Bowl - a tabletop fantasy football game and play all in a 24-hour period. No sleep, just hobby. With this all taking place at our family owned, friendly local gaming shop - Mighty Lancer Games on King Street in Bridlington starting at 10am on 7th June 2025 with a wonderful sponsor Jacksons Fisheries a family run traditional fish and chip shop on Kirkgate in Bridlington.

We all struggle sometimes. Many of us face daily difficulties with our mental health. Hobbies are a great way of managing those difficulties and cultivating a positive sense of well-being. The tabletop gaming hobby in particular is multi-faceted and all-encompassing. Whether assembling, painting, or playing it allows people to develop their motor skills, express themselves creatively, and, most of all, engage with others socially, which helps to build strong, fundamental networks of mutual support. That's what our hobby is about, and that is what EYBBL and Mighty Lancer Games want to promote and encourage.

Mighty Lancer Games have hosted a number of charity events over the years but this was the first 24 hour gaming event and it is fair to say by 5am the delirium was starting to kick in, but all participants kept the goal in mind, the reason they were doing this and the wonderful charity it was all in aid of. Every donation that came in via the Just Giving page  added to the motivation and they never gave up completing the full 24 hours and smashing the £500 target raising an amazing £1,520 in aid of CALM.

Thank you so much to everyone that donated and while it’s all fun, games & hobby at the shop we just want to take a moment to say if you are struggling at the moment please remember you are not alone, you are needed in this world, reach out to friends, family, your gaming community or contact CALM . You are not alone
